Interview: Model Ken Stoffers (Netherlands)
Can you tell us a little about you?
Of course, my name is Ken Stoffers I am 23 years old and just bought a house in Haarlem, before that I’ve been living like a nomad for some years. I did my first shoot when I was 14 years old together with my brother. Did some work for 2 years, but it never really was my thing. I could have been to young, I picked it up again a few years later but my love for music has always been stronger. I graduated as a Singer-Songwriter on a music school about 2 years ago, since then it’s been providing for my lifestyle. I write songs for companies, give shows and play on the streets. Soon I’d love to start giving lessons and workshops too. I sing, play and compose on the guitar, recently bought a piano and a pan flute and strive to master them to. My music is really divers, I’d like to take a lot of styles and put it in one or a couple of songs, like that you create a new mixture. What more is there to say? I love dancing, self taught myself on festivals and improve a little every party. I have a lot of love for my parents and brother who went in great lengths and never gave up on me, although I have been quite troublesome. My friends, whom I’ve known and been as brothers for almost 10 years and my ex-girlfriend who put me back on track and loved me strong. Furthermore I’m in a constant battle with my laziness, consider myself as quite a nice guy whom doesn’t always know when to apply a filter and not to say certain things and who has a touch of always getting in to trouble.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Like mentioned above, I would change my laziness and turn it in to discipline.
How did you start modeling?
My borther was already into it and brought me along for a duo shoot. Then my brother (who does posses over a fair amount of disciple) went with his portfolio through agency’s. They saw the picture a our duo shoot and asked for an acquaintance, kinda build a portfolio there and rolled into it. Never as much went through the trouble of looking or searching for shoots or agencies myself, they always seemed to find me. Guess I’m too lazy.
What do you think of the work as a model?
Like I said at first I hated it, hated the waiting, going through the make-up and for some reason it always has to be so ****** early. Like tomorrow I have to get up in 5 hours from now, at like 5.30 A.M because it has to start so early and has to be in the middle of nowhere.
So regarding any booker or photographer reading this. This is my plea to you. Somewhere between 11 or 12 is a beautiful time. Not all of us are morning creatures. I for instance would be a lot friendlier when I get some sleep. Also it is noticeable in the pictures.
What is your beauty regimen?
I do not know what this means :D
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
Would be my hair and my overall appearance.
What are your plans for the future?
To conquer the world and make it a better place.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
I’ve done a lot of things, lived my days to the fullest. So I’m not going down that road, cause it’s a long one. I can tell you about one of the moments that touched me deeply. I wrote a song for my friends and one day at a campfire I played it for them. And all my friends are like big tough guys. But almost every one of them was crying, like really crying. I could not look at them. Otherwise I’ve would’ve breaked myself.
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Don’t do it, hahah no. But stay true to yourself, don’t do anything your not comfortable with. Decide why you are doing this, and how much you are willing to sacrifice. And for all the girls, nobody likes bag of bones. That image of beauty is artificial and fake, don’t cope with it.
What do you think of the magazine?
To be perfectly honest, I haven’t read it yet, but I do like what it represents and surely will read it when I find the time.
