Interview: Photographer Duez Franck (France)
Tell us something about yourself
I am born in Paris the 12 april 1965 and start working at 15 years old for post production company for advertising movie.
After a part of me was more interested by photography as filming so i start shooting
for a lot of models agency and made the first pictures for famous models as Eva Herzigova , Fabienne terwing and many more…
How and when did you get into photography?
I start photography when I was 18 years old as assistant of the official photographer of the princess Stephanie of Monaco and some others stars. Traveling around the word for her and meet nice others start like Naomie Campbell, Uma Thurman, Isabella Rossellini and a lot of others.
After that I start working for big press agency in Paris as Gamma agency or Sigma. I was shooting people and some reportages. After that for personal reason I move to brussel and change my work and start to shoot for fashion and advertising.
What does photography mean to you?
For me i like shooting everything if i can play with the light on it … I like to bring my personal touch and love to work with photoshop also. I am more famous for fashion and advertising but love also to shoot architecture .
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
As I said before I love him played with light and bring my personal touch to the image. I know the master HMI and Tungsten lights cinema and studio flash lights and sometimes j 'likes to mix them together. I love my woman and photography and i ilke to make 'em as much beautiful than i can on pictures.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I love photographer as Helmout Newton, Herb Ribbs, Richard Avedon, Mario Testing and others….
Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
No i like to work as feeling the day of the shooting because fashion photography is a team you need to have the best make up artist and best hairdresser best clothes so it is difficult for me to think in advance .
Studio, on location or both?
Both would say. I like changed environment and this is why I 've never had my own studio because I think that if I had had my own studio we tried for Commercial reasons to always push the studio profitable and I think this is not good. I have to choose my site for the best result and not for the financial aspect ...
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I am fortunate to live my profession that is so I would say professional photography. I have worked or still work for big magazine or international competition or international brand models.
What has been your most memorable session and why?
My first big shoot for one of the greatest Italian magazine of the time who was Max Italin and that I have made with my girlfriend of the time Eva Herzigova. It was a dream for me when I have seen the publications in the magazine with my name in big :-)
What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?
Now it's photoshop photoshop I regard as an amazing creative tool that I could live without.

Canon 5D Mark 3 24-70 1.8 and 50 mm 1.4
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
For fashion photography i will say shoot lees but good. Mean it s better to make one shoot with a professionnel model and professionnel make up artist and stylist as to shoot 10 times with no stylist for exemple.
