Tell us something about yourself

Im a swedish guy living in Stockholm, and work as a sound and lighting engineer with my own company. Mostly doing consulting regarding AV-system installations for schools and such.

 

How and when did you get into photography?

I have always been interested in the art language and began drawing early and so on, and since my father being a very skilled photographer, I was naturally interested in photography also eventually.

 

What does photography mean to you?

From the beginning when I started with model and portrait photography a few years ago, it was mainly to break the daily life and get some kind of hobby, but gradually I have more and more realized that there is a very pleasant valve to be able to express some kind of artistic talent too. 

 

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers

Oh... here's where I probably fail big time... style...? Well if you take a look at my pictures i am pretty much all over the place. I’m not sure if I have a certain style actually? At least not yet? Or maybe I do, but just think Im very diverse? Since I’m inspired from such a wide variety of photographers and creators that I usually wanna try different things all the time, but if there is one single thing I tend to "come home to" its probably quite thight headshot portraiture… often in black and white and mostly done with a single lightsource.

 

Where do you getinspiration from?

As mentioned above I take input from a wide selection of photograpers. Of course Peter Lindberg and Peter Coulson are some sort of icons in their own right, and the mood they are able to create in their work is something really inspirational. I also like the very clean and precise work of photographers like Karl Taylor. And beside just watching epic photographers work I spend way to much time at pinterest and 500px just browsing all the fantastic pics there too

 

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?

Yes and no. Usually when I do a model shoot I have quite a fixed idea or at least some kind of inspirational feel about what the result will be. Although i quite like when the session are a bit ad hoc as well, so i guess im kinda flakey in that way. Sometimes things just happen and those pics are quite often the keepers. Studiosessions tend to be a bit more structured, and location shoots are more loose and improvised the way I work.

 

Studio, on location or both?

Definatly both. I get bored on either if i just do one or the other :)

 

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

Hobbyist. Although I do some paid work as well, mostly portraiture for some small companies and such.

 

 

What has been your most memorable session and why?

Hmm... thats tricky. I usually have so much fun during a shoot so all of them are quite memorable. But if i should pick just one it must be a beach sunset shoot in turkey last year. Everything was spot on, model, lighting, location, curious bystanders, lifeguards haha.

 

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

Quite tired of that silly brand-war thats been going on for ages now. I really dont think it matters one bit what camera you use as long as you know how it works and what limitations it has. Ive been shooting nikon from the start and my combination of D4/85mm is probably what Ive been using most in my portraiture work. D800/70-200 are a pretty nice combo too. Recently I started shooting with a Fujifilm X-T1 (and waiting for my ordered X-T2) and are very impressed with their products as well. Their 56mm/f1,2 is a really fantastic piece of glass I must say.

 

 

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?

Source... meaning not a specific photographer, as mentioned above, id say all the ”colleagues", photographers, models and all creative people posting pictures daily on social medias. Please keep em coming

 

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Shoot, shoot, shoot... analyse your work and start all over again… And HAVE FUN! Ok, thats two advices, sorry ’bout that haha
